Monteverde is a small town that was founded by a community that arrived in North America in the 50s. It is situated at the entrance of the Reserva Biológica Bosque Nuboso Monteverde (the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve), which has made Monteverde a popular ecotourism destination. Moreover, a large percentage of its buildings have maintained their classic style, and have not been touched by modernity.

This town is located 5 hours by bus from the capital of Costa Rica, San José.

Monteverde is not a typical Costa Rican town. Currently it is a series of houses that take up different spaces. The tourists that visit the area often stay in these groups of houses. The inhabitants maintain a rural way of life and the different services are scattered all over: one bank, one ATM, one hospital, one book shop, one post office and numerous supermarkets.
Since it is situated on the Tilarán mountain range, Monteverde has a fresh and cloudy climate that obliges visitors to the region to bring a warm coat to protect them from the cold temperatures.

It is a quiet area and the community dedicates itself to agriculture and farming, being one of the areas that produces the best cheeses in Costa Rica, which you must not forget when you visit!

If you are a fan of nature, you will love the Cloud Forest Reserve. You will be able to see an enormous range of indigenous birds and the butterfly garden will leave you breathless.
