Information about Flamingo Beach, Costa Rica

The white sands of Playa Flamingo invite visitors to enjoy an unforgetable experience in this pacific coast Costa Rican beach town. The scenic waters here offer a variety of exciting activities such as scuba diving among sword fish, white sharks and rich tropical sea fauna or participating in the popular fishing tournament which attracts tourists every year.

The surrounding area features the Palo Verde and Santa Rosa nature reserves, where visitors are encouraged to explore Costa Rica's stunning natural landscape. The nearby nature park and active volcano, both interestingly called El Rincón de la Vieja (The Old Lady's Corner), also make for exciting visits, where cold water and thermal lakes offer tourists the chance to take a relaxing dip.

The city of just 32,000 residents is really a mix of resorts and towns, which gives you a great chance to integrate into local life. By visiting some of the smaller towns of the surrounding area, you can get even deeper insight into Latin American culture.

Flying into the Tamarindo airport is the most convenient way to get to Flamingo beach. The airport receives domestic flights and is just a short taxi or bus ride away, while car or bus travel from San Jose takes about six hours.

The wide variety of activities available here and the rich natural beauty of the area make this an engaging destination in which to learn Spanish. You won't want to leave Costa Rica, and once back home, you'll likely begin thinking about your next trip to this fantastic country.
